We decided to have a small family-only party this year just to keep things simple and cheap. However, living far from family and the fact that Avery's birthday is close to Christmas prevented many of our family from being able to celebrate with us. We are thankful for those that were able to come.<br />
<br />
Avery had such a fun time! She loved that her cousins' Nathan and Nolan got to come.<br />

I always said that I would NEVER make a birthday cake, but that I would buy one instead. Well, I decided that I would try a very simple monkey cake that I found on Martha Stewart's website. My mom, who ALWAYS made us birthday cakes, was there to help out. Although one ear was a little bigger than the other, it turned out pretty cute. Avery loved her monkey cake too. It was worth the trouble to see her little face light up.<br />

<br />
Avery loved all of her presents. The poor girl was due for some new toys. Having a birthday in December doesn't really work in her favor. She has pretty much been playing with the same toys she got last year at this time. If you have a little girl who likes babies, let me suggest "Baby Stella." She has barely put the doll down since she opened it. It has a magnetic paci, removable clothes and diapers, and is light and easy for little arms to hold. I picked it up at Brilliant Sky in Cool Springs.<br />
<br />
Matt and I couldn't be more thankful for the sweet little girl God put in our lives. We can't imagine the last two years without her.<br />

I am sure we will do a little more celebrating on Tuesday, her actual birthday. Maybe I will catch her on video saying that she is almost 2. It is too cute not to share.Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02071364048473357410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2545188105815589644.post-65798604849263127572012-11-26T18:51:00.000-08:002012-11-26T18:51:56.256-08:00Almost Two (In Pictures)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A few weeks ago we got some pictures made of Avery, who will be two years old in December. I realized today that I had not posted any of them because we were busy traveling and visiting with family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday. These were my absolute FAVORITE pictures from the CD of about 60 that I get to keep. Laurel, as always, does an amazing job. If you are in the Franklin/Nashville/Brentwood area and need some photos, I would definitely recommend her! You can check out her work at <a href="http://www.eilasblog.com/">http://www.eilasblog.com</a>.</div>

Avery is growing each day. I am thankful for the time I get to spend with her. It seems as though daily, Matt and I are just amazed at something she says or does. We have had a busy month with fun fall activities.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We spent a Saturday afternoon at the Walden Farm pumpkin patch where Avery enjoyed petting and feeding the sheep, goats, chickens, and so forth. She loves animals. Sometimes she is a little aprehensive about getting too close. But as long as her daddy was right there with her, she was having fun.</div>

She loves to climb, and flip, and jump. She is a very active little girl, as I am sure most toddlers are. She always requests to do flips with her daddy. She pretty much has no fear of falling.</div>

Avery is checking out the BIG orange pumpkins. We have been working a little bit on colors lately. She makes me laugh every time because she automatically says green and purple when I ask her what color something is. </div>

Avery was such a DOLL in her Halloween costume this year. She really was a good sport about wearing it. Do you see the apple she has in her mouth? I have to say that unlike her parents, she chose the apple over the candy that she got. Way to go Avery! </div>

Avery spoke her first full sentence just yesterday. We were putting up the Christmas tree and she said "I want it now." She was wanting to play with some of the Christmas decorations that were still stashed away in the plastic containers. She has lots to say these days and always seems to be talking or "practicing" by repeating words and phrases over and over and over. </div>

I am leaving you with this short little video. My mom sent Avery a book, and I just love the reaction she had when she opened it up!</div>

Only a few more months to go!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIaQ3Cyf8EtzdKjyQHgcoAq9oH2RqeIaJpP3zhFcUKcNNgQ2p7I2WINVJ6pFeX4jY_ZN8WT627r0eeaBC6UXkeKS86hYS28PrICXbmbehpy9sDjH17oNzY41xrPO4YNnqNM2qmb-vWOiMD/s1600/DSC_0009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIaQ3Cyf8EtzdKjyQHgcoAq9oH2RqeIaJpP3zhFcUKcNNgQ2p7I2WINVJ6pFeX4jY_ZN8WT627r0eeaBC6UXkeKS86hYS28PrICXbmbehpy9sDjH17oNzY41xrPO4YNnqNM2qmb-vWOiMD/s320/DSC_0009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is our little helper. She got to help her dad with a little home improvement project this month. We have really been working a little bit on teaching Avery to help clean up her toys and messes. If I give her a wipe, she will clean the table after she eats. She has also started signing the "clean up song" as she picks up her toys. (When she feels like it, of course.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYD1ZV3Zh-YoPZUm3S3myz5M8Z-hR2vjsmagzH9s6bi34lavZ26SIyEC8LWxSrSyZEsYC8QWTWNgg2ksxV2ZVJ8z-T7qwHl8Q3RHCgd_XVForDZflHQB6_XN_vno3EiYMXf73Z_3mhwUxS/s1600/IMG_0360.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYD1ZV3Zh-YoPZUm3S3myz5M8Z-hR2vjsmagzH9s6bi34lavZ26SIyEC8LWxSrSyZEsYC8QWTWNgg2ksxV2ZVJ8z-T7qwHl8Q3RHCgd_XVForDZflHQB6_XN_vno3EiYMXf73Z_3mhwUxS/s320/IMG_0360.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Some days she looks/acts SO grown up. She is wearing mostly 18-24 month clothing and size 5 shoes. She is so determined these days to zip up her PJ's and pull up her own pants. She quickly gets frustrated when I try to do it for her. She is a very independent little girl.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRu8Bl-jsABzGNWg_7jDFzc96Ao07zAiQqO6Wuc66vkgh4TEZMzmNyotrKKKP94cJ8Z6u4m6nJWkdUxmCTH1qWNCX6Z8b_tEdnBRC7HJtzEYGU55nXWp_k1vVWqYq_1UpcGOa4At8dAHdm/s1600/IMG_0384.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRu8Bl-jsABzGNWg_7jDFzc96Ao07zAiQqO6Wuc66vkgh4TEZMzmNyotrKKKP94cJ8Z6u4m6nJWkdUxmCTH1qWNCX6Z8b_tEdnBRC7HJtzEYGU55nXWp_k1vVWqYq_1UpcGOa4At8dAHdm/s320/IMG_0384.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Avery loves to laugh. She has really been doing some funny things lately. One thing that makes me laugh most is when she helps me read the book, "Moo, Baa, La La La." The first line of the book says: "A cow says MOO." She reads (has memorized) the MOO part and says it so loud that our neighbors downstairs can probably hear her. (We live in a condo. I am sure our neighbors LOVE that a toddler lives above them.) Anyway, we read the whole book that way. Maybe I will catch it on video soon, because it is seriously the cutest thing EVER!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here is our sneaky little girl. When she gets quite, you have to see what she is up to. Otherwise, Avery is quite the little talker. Lately she has been putting several words together. Matt and I are really good at toddler language, although she speaks pretty clearly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
We went to the apple orchard a little too late in the season. So here is Avery with her apple that we bought from the orchard (even though we didn't get to pick it).<br />

<br />
Avery really enjoys painting. Here she is painting a pumpkin. Gotta keep the little one busy ya know! I thank the Lord every day for Pinterest. Really ya'll, some days it is a lifesaver! I have kept her busy with little craft project ideas I have pinned.<br />
<br />
Happy 22 months sweet Avery! I can't wait to see how you grow and change this next month.Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02071364048473357410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2545188105815589644.post-27796240605956774102012-10-16T18:57:00.000-07:002012-10-16T18:57:26.273-07:00Sand, Seashells, and Sleep<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">A little over a month ago we went on a much needed vacation to Destin, FL. It was Avery's first vacation, unless you include our trips to the state of Arkansas.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">We stayed at Destin West on Okaloosa Island on the bay side and LOVED it. It was perfect for our family. Right off our balcony was a lazy river, which Avery didn't love. I guess a <i>lazy river </i>isn't very appealing to a busy toddler. However, there was also a zero entry pool which Avery really enjoyed. One of her favorite things to do was push the big tubes back and forth through the pool. </span></div>

Just like her mom, Avery doesn't like to get her feet dirty. I do like sand though. We learned very quickly that Avery didn't like the sand AT ALL. She preferred to sit in her chair with her feet up.</div>

Once we did get her to stand in the sand, she would curl her little toes under. PRECIOUS. Actually, I think this was the only time she stood on the beach. She did learn a new word though and practiced the word <i>sand</i> by saying it over and over again. </div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Avery is now 21 months old. Matt and I feel like she has really grown up this past month. Her face is changing and her hair keeps getting longer and a little thicker. She is looking more like a little girl each day.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ1JVp_3h6N4jiTpiFU7hPqrSRRinBGspNYM-9ryvlTuAJDFVi2Eax9yukGvahpopae_aSauwYmsrJuPItnNck2grm7IuQUtRONEckVhahUCY4sQ466pzqmhNjpf4y0glCyGtjWDCxmJmf/s1600/DSC_0004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ1JVp_3h6N4jiTpiFU7hPqrSRRinBGspNYM-9ryvlTuAJDFVi2Eax9yukGvahpopae_aSauwYmsrJuPItnNck2grm7IuQUtRONEckVhahUCY4sQ466pzqmhNjpf4y0glCyGtjWDCxmJmf/s320/DSC_0004.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Avery has been doing a lot of new little things lately. She is starting to open some of the doors in our place. She loves to open the bathroom door (that is always fun) and the pantry door (and then she proceeds to drag out her favorite snacks). I am not looking forward to her being tall enough to open the front door.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; min-height: 14px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; min-height: 14px;">
Lately, Avery has been "reading" books herself. She loves this little book her Mimi bought her "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." She pulls it off the bookshelf, "reads" the book, and quickly shuts it and says "the end" in a cute high-pitched Avery voice.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; min-height: 14px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; min-height: 14px;">
If you didn't already know, Avery owns/has lots of possessions. Almost everything is "Avery's _________." Even the stairs outside the front door of our condo belong to her. When she says it, she taps her hand to her chest to show us that she is talking about herself.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; min-height: 14px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; min-height: 14px;">
Avery has several new favorite words this month. I am not sure where she picked them up (probably Matt), but she loves to say "see ya" instead of "bye." She also uses the word "awesome." When your kids start picking up words, it really makes you evaluate how you speak. At least she isn't using the term "ya'll."</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; min-height: 14px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; min-height: 14px;">
Our sweet little girl has been escaping from the straps of her car seat lately. How tight do you have to get them to make sure the kiddos keep their little arms in those straps? </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Just like her Aunt Alicia, Avery loves shoes! She recently got some hand-me-downs from her cousin Kylie. She will sit for 20-30 minutes putting the shoes on and taking them off. She is doing great putting on shoes though and most of the time gets them on right. Sometimes she even likes to try on her Mommy's shoes.</div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Matt and I really like this age. Avery is a lot of fun, loves to make us laugh, and is super sweet most of the time. Just like all toddlers, she still has her "did-she-really-just-do-THAT?!" moments. I am pretty sure she picked up a baby frog out of the water on our vacation. YUCK!</div>

A little over a week ago, Avery turned 20 months old. Seriously, time is flying by. Every month I am amazed at how much she seems to "grow up." This past month she started trying to put on her own clothes. At any moment in the day, she will go to her drawer and pull out ALL of her shorts and shirts. Then, she will try them on. One day she did get her shirt on right all by herself the right way. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided one night that I would let Avery help us make a pizza. Here she is "helping" her dad put on the spinach. She is such a good little helper.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When we went to Northwest Arkansas to visit her Bibi and Pop, we went to a splash park in Bentonville. She wasn't a huge fan at all. However, she did enjoy sitting on Bibi and Pop's deck and listening to the birds say "tu tweet." </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Avery got some really great hand-me-down toys from her cousin Kylie. One of her favorites is the baby doll and baby bed. Every night Avery likes to put the doll in the bed, cover its face with the blanket, and say "shhhhhhh" while she rocks the baby to sleep. She gives the baby kisses and then is usually ready for bed herself. I guess I need to teach her that putting a blanket over the baby's face could hurt the baby. Ha! She also loves this little DOLL swing. Don't you just love her expression in this picture?</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Avery loves to help me do laundry too. I get a good arm workout by lifting her up as she puts each piece of clothing into the washer. It does take longer, but she just loves to help me do chores. When we are done, she insists on carrying this basket back to its "home" all by herself. </div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is such a blessing to be home with her these days. We go to the park a lot, have been to the zoo, hang out with friends, go to story time at the library, play, and run errands. Even though I love a schedule and to-do list, this more relaxed schedule just fits our family right now. </div>
<br />Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02071364048473357410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2545188105815589644.post-66001992070331599602012-07-18T13:23:00.001-07:002012-07-18T13:23:29.350-07:00Avery 19 Months OldOur little girl keeps growing up! She is 19 months old today. I took her last week to her 18 month well visit and she now weighs 21 lb. 10 oz.<br />
<br />
<br />
We have stayed busy this month! Avery loves playing at her friend, Molly Cate's house. Although she was a little apprehensive of the water table at first, she decided that she loved it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another of Avery's friends, Gabby, came to play at our house last week. Avery calls her "Babby."</div>

<br />
<br />
Avery likes to be in the swing for about 30 seconds, then she is ready to get out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMQ03GPUqJteNx0f32iglib82jc9XQwYnc8NbdrFh11_d0M2SHMuC3qvxRRMRWYV6jzpNcUUaRmZExwXlgcTbHNYTYK5ufl13xCx5PNTONJ39Hhpjr6DDix1zxhyphenhyphenOoE5cLGyfPIi9BJe9P/s1600/IMG_0101.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMQ03GPUqJteNx0f32iglib82jc9XQwYnc8NbdrFh11_d0M2SHMuC3qvxRRMRWYV6jzpNcUUaRmZExwXlgcTbHNYTYK5ufl13xCx5PNTONJ39Hhpjr6DDix1zxhyphenhyphenOoE5cLGyfPIi9BJe9P/s320/IMG_0101.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Avery finally decided she kind of likes to play in a baby pool. When she sees one on TV, she calls it by name.<br />

Since I am staying home with her, it is my attempt at being intentional in the time I spend with her. So, this week we started with the letter A. It was super easy and fun for her because she got to paint.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGE5fq0pY8DJemhEvMYuQInMaenyY051tasRgibgUYCTtlopq-4RKe_s2T-4AzoKK8skCLRLly7GGjmOFFupgXuXNFmj00_vLHnL4HyfVnDxHuu50mdEKgG23i7R4Jeq8Gean3P-KEiCuK/s1600/DSC_0014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGE5fq0pY8DJemhEvMYuQInMaenyY051tasRgibgUYCTtlopq-4RKe_s2T-4AzoKK8skCLRLly7GGjmOFFupgXuXNFmj00_vLHnL4HyfVnDxHuu50mdEKgG23i7R4Jeq8Gean3P-KEiCuK/s320/DSC_0014.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I just put a little yellow washable paint on a paper plate. I cut a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper in half. Then, I drew an uppercase A with a pencil.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8kbQzBefV2oG6AV9TDGk_6wRVmKTJcvr2lC-cykHVSkW6GKnxva2Rc61K2-O6kmmYTXfguimw15vIdJAVCT4IDAkP4qpUW7gJ8D1HBZxU7QxrWuO9D6c9dqJFCO7mNOfS2Bx5sjinMgEA/s1600/DSC_0015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8kbQzBefV2oG6AV9TDGk_6wRVmKTJcvr2lC-cykHVSkW6GKnxva2Rc61K2-O6kmmYTXfguimw15vIdJAVCT4IDAkP4qpUW7gJ8D1HBZxU7QxrWuO9D6c9dqJFCO7mNOfS2Bx5sjinMgEA/s320/DSC_0015.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Avery helped me paint the letter A.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizk5TvoqLNm_3nLDeoKWH2RkE0D5tmKwIci1_tycIxwVIJ9xsZPFoCCvz9lnN_1UuJEWaycksyoc0uHZ1hZsCjKrwFqH7c9Xsr9jmYqTyXpkAc6W0wmI8AnJq4AoeEM4fMV7XhE9QsTa7W/s1600/DSC_0019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizk5TvoqLNm_3nLDeoKWH2RkE0D5tmKwIci1_tycIxwVIJ9xsZPFoCCvz9lnN_1UuJEWaycksyoc0uHZ1hZsCjKrwFqH7c9Xsr9jmYqTyXpkAc6W0wmI8AnJq4AoeEM4fMV7XhE9QsTa7W/s320/DSC_0019.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I taped a picture of her on the first page of our "ABC Book." I am thinking that for the letter B we will cut out a picture of a ball from a magazine or maybe even put a picture of her Bibi (grandmother). For now, it is hanging on our refrigerator. When she sees it, she says "A." It served its purpose, and it was fun too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIyR4BKOS2NhVEMuWXu1S_6oXC-eihbiiHGZ0bnzbz13eu9hOu884ZGyQnC3MYHJb3M41S0ZL5V5IgoSPRhLSwkRJb-a8_c7sc_bJqMfZ8hKcZMfHRBrU1tfeln8C10T0faqUgbloCnZtt/s1600/DSC_0017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIyR4BKOS2NhVEMuWXu1S_6oXC-eihbiiHGZ0bnzbz13eu9hOu884ZGyQnC3MYHJb3M41S0ZL5V5IgoSPRhLSwkRJb-a8_c7sc_bJqMfZ8hKcZMfHRBrU1tfeln8C10T0faqUgbloCnZtt/s320/DSC_0017.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Avery even got to paint on a piece of construction paper I had laying around. She was so careful and didn't make a mess at all. Just look at the girl's concentration!Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02071364048473357410noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2545188105815589644.post-55126257318836523772012-06-19T18:18:00.000-07:002012-06-19T18:22:41.160-07:00Avery - 18 MonthsYesterday Avery turned 18 months old. It was her half birthday yesterday.<br />
<br />
Avery has been learning a lot and seems to be getting bigger every day.<br />

This was Avery's favorite toy at daycare.</div>

I love spending my days with her. She LOVES bubbles. It truly is her new favorite thing.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Playing with Bubbles</div>
<br />
She also loves wipes and has to get a new one every time I change her diaper. She walks around "cleaning" things with it. I think she is going to be a GREAT helper one day.<br />
<br />
She got her hair cut for the first time just yesterday. It wasn't really a memorable experience. I think I could have done a much better job myself. She wasn't even squirming.<br />
<br />

<br />
She loves to play outside. However, she dislikes grass. Funny huh?! Matt says that we need to do something to change that for sure.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Matt and Avery</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Avery has been "babbling" sentences a lot lately. I have NO idea what she is saying, but she is absolutely confident in her "babbling." She also uses/repeats a lot of words that we say. Her other favorites are "eat" and "bubbles."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJd7uBk1bmfYUpaLfMq3w29ImPNscGREnfFZHIY_fWGWkUXzOEWxXFL4iK2hDt9CNFOr9rJqHd4vWpx24z3Iac3ntLkZJr_98OquzoGqp8H8Db9A0isiOpN7CIJdhRNNKVLtjl0Ny6Kza0/s1600/IMG_0067.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJd7uBk1bmfYUpaLfMq3w29ImPNscGREnfFZHIY_fWGWkUXzOEWxXFL4iK2hDt9CNFOr9rJqHd4vWpx24z3Iac3ntLkZJr_98OquzoGqp8H8Db9A0isiOpN7CIJdhRNNKVLtjl0Ny6Kza0/s320/IMG_0067.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pretty Girl</div>
<br />
She loves and uses the word <i>no </i>a lot lately. Someone I know suggested that we catch her on video and pull it out one day when she is a teenager. "Avery, do you want a car?" "No." "Avery, do you want to date boys until you are 25?" "No." Ha! I really should do that now.<br />
<br />
Avery loves to be on the go. She really doesn't love staying at home. I have to think of errands to run every day just to keep her happy. When we arrive at our destination, she usually yells "YAY!"<br />

<br />
We have a little touch and feel book with Bible stories that Matt and I love to read to her. She always points to Noah and calls him "daddy." Do you see the resemblance?<br />

Since I have been home with Avery over the last month, we have had some really fun times with friends. I can't wait to make more memories! I just love our sweet little girl.<br />

We love her more and more everyday. She is in the phase where she repeats a lot of what we say. She has learned the word <i>pretty, box, water, baby, please and thank you, </i>and more.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
She loves to laugh and be silly with mom and dad. She has recently begun to say <i>hi </i>and <i>bye </i>to everyone she sees.<br />
<br />

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Avery loves to take things out of boxes (like band-aids) and put them back in. At daycare, she usually helps clean up toys before she leaves and helps find missing shoes. She is very alert and always seems to know what is going on around her.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Avery and her dad went to paint a piece of pottery for me as a mother's day gift. What a sweet idea! Matt was so brave to do this with a toddler. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I look forward to the next months of her growth and development as I will be staying home with Avery full time. I will share more about that in my next post!</div>

I had lots of plans for my spring break week that didn't happen. I attribute it all to the awful little stomach bug that Avery picked up somewhere and then passed on to me. Matt went crazy cleaning yesterday and doing all he could to avoid getting it too. I don't blame him one bit!</div><div><br /></div><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaYRewQD8HggBxT3ib8ovTCoM4gw2qIFFMR6Tf2b2pR8CoFQDxxiX8SSfTFTvI2st6kXxKZ7IbvNqwy1OarxJiKyNwtjXuTRWGpU1pssp2cYHgdH5I66ZR_hlvGQ3j26XQPmx78OYnnmj-/s320/DSC_0006.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5728338884907317202" /><div>On to better news. Since she got tubes in her ears and can hear, Avery has been saying a lot of words. Here a just a few that we have heard in the last few weeks: up, hi, bye da-da, poop, water (wa-wa). She has also been singing "Row Row Row Your Boat" (Wo, Wo, Wo). She tries to repeat a lot of what we say.</div><div><br /></div><div>I think I even heard her try to repeat her name today. She really is full of personality! She likes to laugh and make us laugh. Sweet girl!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02071364048473357410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2545188105815589644.post-2219713353436923392012-04-01T18:32:00.006-07:002012-04-01T18:55:44.269-07:00A Fun-Filled WeekendWe had a great weekend with family and friends. It was a late afternoon wedding and absolutely beautiful. When we left the wedding, Matt and I decided that we would take advantage of free babysitting and go to a movie and out for dinner. We stayed out until 10:00! Sounds funny right, but I honestly can't remember the last time we went to a movie together OR stayed out late. We definitely need to do it more often.</div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Today we met up with some friends and their kiddos for an Easter egg hunt in Cool Springs. It was Avery's first! I can basically say that most all I remember about this month is that Avery was sick almost ALL of it. She went to see her pediatrician at least once a week since I posted about her 14th month of life. Here is a picture of her this past Friday. She was a good little patient as she got tubes put in her little ears. She wanted to put the hair net on herself.<div><br /><div><div><div><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtw97gIRwOkvTXKrV0xwcTPbPLpSP-zElARqk3efUtJC-FC2AGOuHpEn09YnhY6A9HtT6Uis0V_bHDOOVnlaV2tGY4Eb6LxnHOcvXm5eW2-3jUVY-3jJzXAwsc128pgC5Koya8TUy-Bqwc/s320/IMG_0485.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5721407749536882850" /></div></div></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>If I would have known that tubes would have made such a difference a month ago, we would have done it right away! She is a different child. I can't even imagine how much pain she has been in since right after Christmas.</div><br /><div>Besides being sick, taking medicine, and getting tubes, Avery discovered the toilet paper roll! She LOVES to discover and get into things. What kids doesn't, right?!</div><div><br /></div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS2TGER5vKZtmc8peHO7F-lcdBc9KvogCLWnODK4HF_oKG9dF3HxLCgADl0IY8u2vmzZSzB9HuaPoWVNPmzZ_oMKicwYosHhQl7mRM9m9iS5FGIWVDWTbqHdFJgq49T4LfNJGGIjVUxuMN/s320/DSC_0010.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5721409146898860418" style="float: left; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px; " /><div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>She still has only five teeth. She is getting one more though. It certainly doesn't stop her from eating. The girl LOVES to eat! I think she weighs about 19 pounds. She hasn't quite hit 20 yet. If we hadn't been to the doctor so much, I think I would have already taken her to her 15 month well visit. I always get excited to see how she has grown according to the measurements they take.</div><div><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVmmw8iAL81liloUJRv0VtleXtbnkS1zpKnnXym2r2GbqpfDHA3HiakTnnNxTrIBb5arNSicEwvGpCRa_yh0m26Wc_0uL15ygDAFNZguKdHB41kx6MNvABRxQsu9zjwglRcLwh47AXQDw5/s320/IMG_0476.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5721411101944941714" style="float: left; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; cursor: pointer; width: 195px; height: 320px; " /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Here is a picture of Avery leaving daycare one day. Avery will be 13 months on Wednesday, but since I am off <i>today</i> I decided I would take some pictures and write a little about her recent development.<div><br /><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5bT_ZaAaXzGnaPYogfeaC-jzQe5dohyboLaCxXUi80NFocZUJ_4rU1ulLeZ-Fr8APNIH_M7gCCOTJPmdczeYVjnPENkh_x5g2rah7uOT9C1QmXknFlAY3AUXL0jO567Mvv_bQXpcE1577/s320/CSC_0032.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698349967288537042" /><div><br /></div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The little one started getting her two front teeth right after Christmas. Just a little too late to sing "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth." One tooth is in and the other is just breaking through. I had NO IDEA that <i>teething</i> was such serious stuff. The girl was in SERIOUS pain. So, when all is said and done she will have a total of four teeth!</div><div><br /></div><div>Avery is still crawling, and at full speed ahead might I add. She is standing for short periods of time by herself too. But, she has yet to walk without help. I am not is a huge hurry, because little Miss has already demonstrated that she is finding her independence. I am not sure I am ready for the chasing that will come with walking.</div><div><br /></div><div>She has completely mastered using a sippy cup. It actually wasn't a huge deal at all weaning her from the bottle or getting her to drink whole milk. When we were at my parents house for Christmas, my mom had bought her two sippy cups. (We had already experimented with a few different kinds.) She took to them immediately and has not used a bottle since.</div><div><br /></div><div>She loves playing and reading books. She has learned to give hugs to her stuffed animal "bear." She gives him hugs every night before bed. It is ADORABLE! </div><div><br /></div><div>Avery has also become quite the <i>talker</i>. She babbles a lot. Sometimes I feel like we are carrying on a conversation, but I don't know what we are <i>really</i> talking about. She clearly says mama and dada and has for quite some time. When she is trying to get my attention, she yells MAMA! </div><div><br /></div><div>She is still an amazing sleeper. Really it is a blessing, and I am NOT counting on our next child being the same way. Every night at 7:00 p.m. she lets us know she is ready for bed. We brush her teeth, give her a bath, put her PJs on, say night-night, lay her in the crib, and she rolls over and is OUT! She usually sleeps until 6:30 the next morning unless we need to wake her earlier. I wonder how much of this is attributed to the "schedule" we so faithfully worked on when she was a baby.</div><div><br /></div><div>Here are a few pictures I took today. I am trying to learn to actually use all the settings on my camera. I just realized too that if you turn off the flash, the pictures turn out MUCH better. Who knew?! Enjoy!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4Mg_AW7Vhsblug9ipUYuP1a20nZCCGyDanqXNMnYkcG_tw8WcT_WkWJRmzLi3i4x2yaolTJDjGfNJFRX98uaOWt4_j1vuUY4B4gmOA1sW0p3Ut4sY1SSuRWRVReT-bcgMQGB9ZlKq8UsD/s320/CSC_0028.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698349369489583906" style="float: left; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; cursor: pointer; width: 186px; height: 320px; " /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><br /></div></div></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Trying to put her sock back on.</div><div><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilPcouvrKNcHbIVUk4_7jTux3t7_UssEb1tbkrDv0lVq0dYebRArwCni2r1D-c_mgjqsF2A8cP2HMenYe4OTeRQFfrpF22NKXyEn8XfX_pjcocTrtxWHA-EWFoQx20wJoqHk2SXd96GayC/s320/DSC_0023.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5698350348422565938" style="float: left; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; cursor: pointer; width: 197px; height: 320px; " /></div>Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02071364048473357410noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2545188105815589644.post-42987072444329375912011-12-29T17:16:00.000-08:002011-12-30T05:27:55.054-08:00Birthday Fun and Lots of Pictures<span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span>I mentioned in my last post that I would share more about Avery's birthday party later. Well, here it is with LOTS of pictures! For the first year of Avery's life, the sweet and talented Laurel at Eilas Photography has captured Avery's 1st year. When she mentioned doing a photo shoot at Avery's 1st birthday party, I was beyond excited. Thanks for capturing great moments of Avery's first year Laurel!<br />

We had the party at Inside Out Play Park. It is a new play place in Franklin. Since it was new, I got a really great deal AND the people were so great and easy to work with. It was a great place for Avery's party. We were so glad to have family in town and a few of Avery's little friends there to celebrate.</div>

She very carefully explored her cake. She wasn't so sure about it and licked just a tiny bit of the icing off her fingers. Hopefully we have trained her well to eat her veggies. (One can wish, right?!) I just hope she doesn't love sweets as much as her mom and dad. <br />

I think her favorite part was the birthday surprise. At Inside Out, they let the birthday girl/boy ride the 4-wheeler through the "park." She L.O.V.E.D it! As long as she keeps her girlie side, she can play outside with her dad.</div>

I do NOT consider myself crafty, but I sure can borrow other crafty people's ideas. I found the cute <i>Milk and Cookies</i> theme idea at The Tom Kat Studio. Melinda, a crafty friend of mine, helped me brainstorm and stage this sweet 1st birthday party. I did make this burlap banner with some brown paint and stencils. It was easy. And if it was easy for me, you can do it too!<br />

I also created the cake topper. You should have been a fly on the wall in Archivers when I walked in. Talk about feeling out-of-place. That was me. I am not a scrap booker either and was in there F.O.R.E.V.E.R just trying to figure out the perfect way to make the cake topper.<br />

I LOVE this age. It is such an age of discovery, growth, and laughter. She is a lot of fun to be around. Her teachers at daycare love her too. They say she is full of personality. I would definitely agree. Here are a few pictures and a little update of her current milestones.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr-Q6afhukTxZgNntWJaxQNjhemoCu_LuqD_8m6D0RqbXp8bjBtnzhiKB2KmsbflJTfVM4ligIVHk2pYHMuE00bGQOHdFyVpx62f8OyHFh3LwoEcewDkiNeAwnuUDWJwGrQAJ9WJf_E08g/s1600/DSC_0004.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 298px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr-Q6afhukTxZgNntWJaxQNjhemoCu_LuqD_8m6D0RqbXp8bjBtnzhiKB2KmsbflJTfVM4ligIVHk2pYHMuE00bGQOHdFyVpx62f8OyHFh3LwoEcewDkiNeAwnuUDWJwGrQAJ9WJf_E08g/s320/DSC_0004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661564884365464786" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />About three weeks ago Avery started getting her two bottom teeth. It took about three weeks for them both to come in. It is near impossible to get a picture of them. So, here is a sweet picture of her playing in a box! Who needs expensive toys?!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGcaGxr8GcFRDuIq1c0CGgdhmbLzCTpyTXtIVTsAh7HP53dcmDqj-JgX47kaiJ0pYCkbo4tFoRnaCHAk96_KKvLXQVvjg1ucnRbt-3LYAVvih1w3inQ_wSa4HCfGlMhszlnoY8yLCb-eMl/s1600/DSC_0028.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGcaGxr8GcFRDuIq1c0CGgdhmbLzCTpyTXtIVTsAh7HP53dcmDqj-JgX47kaiJ0pYCkbo4tFoRnaCHAk96_KKvLXQVvjg1ucnRbt-3LYAVvih1w3inQ_wSa4HCfGlMhszlnoY8yLCb-eMl/s320/DSC_0028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661567384633705090" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Like I said, she LOVES to laugh. It has been a hectic last two weeks. I truly can't even remember what happened yesterday and SLOW is not a word in my vocabulary these days. But, we took the good with the not so wonderful and made it through. Here is a little recap.<br /><br />After Labor day, Avery spent the next three days at home with a double ear infection. Matt stayed home with her most, because ya'll they don't make it easy for teachers to take off! It took me an extra 2 hours to prepare to be off with Avery just for ONE day! Now, is there a trick I don't know about?! I mean, don't hold out on me teacher friends. If there is a secret to quick sub planning, fill a girl in, would ya?!<br /><br />So Friday, Avery finally went back to school. Yes, we got to donate four days of tuition to Avery's daycare. Gotta love that! That afternoon, I was late leaving school and missing my little girl. Once again I left my classroom in a HUGE mess, rushed out the door, got in the car (the nicest one I have EVER owned), and backed up like I normally would. Unfortunately, there was a car parked RIGHT BEHIND me on the curb and BOOM, I ran into it. What a way to end an already less than perfect week. Still my fault I know, but ya'll I seriously think there should be a rule about people parking on curbs! Especially when I could back up and hit you.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVc4IkqbOdX8Ktu-Ifczk1lvCq0ATRiuW0yuPx7zEztqwadPcwrGi2KoVMPaf1i0y7gnSSY39JUFNJBIxeweMetsfHKWzMcdh-n15G1-tZRbSc-fw5QJJ0jbRLaSlKNZ3f85GMrizD9WpY/s1600/DSC_0050.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVc4IkqbOdX8Ktu-Ifczk1lvCq0ATRiuW0yuPx7zEztqwadPcwrGi2KoVMPaf1i0y7gnSSY39JUFNJBIxeweMetsfHKWzMcdh-n15G1-tZRbSc-fw5QJJ0jbRLaSlKNZ3f85GMrizD9WpY/s320/DSC_0050.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653519210961174450"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />So, apparently a stomach virus was going around daycare and the one day that Avery went that week, she picked it up! She was sick (if you know what I mean) almost all day Saturday and into the night! Poor thing was PITIFUL! We took her back to daycare on Monday because we thought she was well. At 1:30 that afternoon they called Matt to come get her. Matt called me right before dismissal at school that same day and told me that he was sick too. Oh. MY. WORD. YA'LL. Seriously?! I did my bus duty, got excused from the faculty meeting and went home to take care of both Matt and Avery. And guess what?! We donated another day's worth of tuition to Avery's school on Tuesday. Icing. on. the. cake!<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQintmM_jLg5errkMYEjdhmgMce9P5MHOO7LZxc-gzLm-1VJ2iBaZC4uQM7yHlZcvh8VYu3xR4wbIoEh9d2alQ_7QoktL98itWV9kdDRLfutvLb87NMgzqZ8RyadiMZ_jv_epbXtHEbyYA/s1600/DSC_0049.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQintmM_jLg5errkMYEjdhmgMce9P5MHOO7LZxc-gzLm-1VJ2iBaZC4uQM7yHlZcvh8VYu3xR4wbIoEh9d2alQ_7QoktL98itWV9kdDRLfutvLb87NMgzqZ8RyadiMZ_jv_epbXtHEbyYA/s320/DSC_0049.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653520299277774946"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />So, that my friends is the "not so wonderful" news. The good news is this ... Avery is into everything now! She is army crawling EVERYWHERE! She started on Labor day. That is not all! She is pulling up on her new favorite toy! Our little girl is growing up fast. <br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw1FUWyAtPHjHW2Iy9bonvMGTjLMfW1xKhqlsAeDC_sEwtHaVY-ZjrHmIH3FH7ldEAUt7-6TiNtfNaJhCFBsw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02071364048473357410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2545188105815589644.post-80812812827557669772011-09-05T16:41:00.000-07:002011-09-05T17:16:46.015-07:00Labor-Less DaysLabor day weekend could not have come at a better time. After 17 (what seemed like 30) days of being back at work, I was ready to relax, refocus, spend time with my little family, and clean our neglected little condo.

<br />We took Avery to the zoo for the first time. Since it is so close to our condo, we bought a membership and will be taking her this fall for sure. It was MUCH cheaper than buying day passes for two adults. Plus, since I am an educator we got $10 off! Yippee!

<br />Seriously, did you just love your Labor Day holiday as much as we did? It was low key, but really good! Now I will be looking forward to Fall Break! Until then, I am hoping to figure out a better routine to get more lesson planning and prep done during the week so I can enjoy my weekends more often. She has become quite the social little girl. She smiles and coos to almost everyone she sees. Two weeks ago we dropped her off at school for the first time. When I picked her up she was happy as can be. Hard for mom? Yes. But, I truly believe this is best for Avery. She LOVES to be around people.

<br />I took this picture of Avery before she went to school for the first time.
<br />
<br />Avery is still sitting strong. She hasn't started crawling yet, but has been scooting around for a few months. Lately, she has been rocking back and forth on hands and knees. I tried to convience her to crawl today. I just know that she is going to crawl at school this week, and then I won't be the first to see the "first." Or maybe she will skip crawling and walk. Apparently crawling is NOT a milestone that is necessary for further developmental milestones.

<br />Look at this girl standing on those strong legs!
<br />
<br />Avery has been LOVING puffs lately. She has a lot of fun picking them up and putting them in her mouth. She loves the apple AND the "greens" (spinach, kale, and greens). I think she will eventually figure out that they have "green" stuff in them since she refuses to eat the pureed peas and green beans now. The only semi-green thing she will eat is avocado. This makes me proud though, because it is packed with good things for healthy brain development. She has recently began eating toast and diced bananas. Maybe next weekend I will have time to cook and cut up some other yummy finger foods. Seriously, I need to hire someone to cook/clean for us. (I WISH!)

<br />
<br />I miss her during the day when I am at work. I MISS HER A WHOLE LOT! I just know and believe that she is where she needs to be for now and is well taken care of. And for some reason, I have been entrusted with the job of encouraging, motivating, and teaching 20 VERY different 6-year-olds. Some of them could care less about learning (but by the end of the year they will LOVE it). One can't speak English AT ALL. Another has had only a year of English in her country of Korea. I have a challenging school year ahead, a little girl to love on when I am home, and a God to serve daily. I am praying for the strength to carry out the task He has set before me knowing that WITH Him all things are possible.
